Lochduhar is a purpose-built care home with 89 beds based on the outskirts of Dumfries. Thanks to our specialist facilities, dedicated, welcoming team and expertise, this is an excellent environment in which to deliver the very best in person-centered care.
As a team, we’re focused on helping our residents lead fulfilling lives. We have a comprehensive programme of activities to keep life interesting, from visits by ZooLab, to variety shows, summer fetes, and pampering session in our own hair salon. Personalised care plans, freshly cooked meals and the highest level of nursing care complete the picture.
The team here is made up of managers, nurses, carers and a number of people in support roles in areas like administration and maintenance. All of us take the same pride in making the home somewhere residents and their families enjoy spending time. Our dedicated Memory Lane Community provides the specialist resources for people living with dementia in a homely yet secure environment. This includes colour and cues to help residents navigate through the home as well as thoughtful interior design to help with reminiscence.
Within our community, memory boxes are used to help each person reminisce. Features such as adapted crockery and tableware, sensory gardens with low-risk walkways and activity kitchens also enable people to engage in life’s everyday simple tasks and pleasures.
