Call us to discuss your next role
We know each day as a nurse is unique. And we understand your role is filled with life-changing moments. That’s why here at Barchester, we’re committed to rewarding your amazing work and dedication. With the autonomy to deliver the highest quality care and support to our residents and patients, you’ll feel truly empowered in your career.
This is your chance to make a difference every day.
This is a career in nursing with Barchester Healthcare.
All of our people take pride in making a real difference to the lives of so many residents and patients. The satisfaction they get from their work is one of the biggest reasons why they join the Barchester family and why they choose to stay with us. Our focus is on providing environments that are well-staffed, comfortable, secure and happy. We also believe that every resident and patient deserves dignity, choice and independence. We listen to what each of them tells us, and we do all that we can to make sure they have everything they need to live the fulfilling lives they deserve.
As a member of our nursing team, at all levels and in all roles, we’ll look to you to create these environments for residents and patients with a range of physical and mental needs, whilst also relying on your professional judgement to make diverse and critical clinical decisions. Your caring approach will need to be matched by your resilience and pragmatism. Your hard work will make a tangible difference to the lives of so many and you’ll also form strong bonds with your knowledgeable, supportive colleagues who will be by your side every day.
Some of our roles are about delivering one-to-one clinical care; others are about supporting the wellbeing of our residents and patients in broader ways. You’ll be working within the boundaries of a person-centred care plan, tailor-made for each person you care for, but the core decisions will be down to you. If you need specific training to help you manage particular conditions, we’ll make sure you have it. We make sure our nurses are always up to date with the latest clinical developments too.
You’ll be encouraged to continually develop your clinical skills with support from our internal teams, our L&D initiatives and the wider medical community. In fact, you’ll be joining an organisation that takes real pride in developing and promoting its nurses. We encourage our Senior Nurses to act as mentors to newly-qualified nurses and Senior Care Assistants. This is a great stepping stone into a management role, and again we can provide you with support to help you make the move into that area.

This is your opportunity to use your nursing skills in an environment where they really will matter – to our residents, patients and their loved ones. We don’t just want you to feel valued, we want you to truly love what you do.
Barchester’s Nurse Preceptorship Programme is based on the ‘Standards of Education and Practice for Nurses New to Care Home Nursing’ and is designed to provide nurses with the needed support, knowledge, skills and confidence required to develop in their nursing practice over the first 18 months of employment.
The Nurse Preceptorship Programme provides preceptees with: mandatory development; recommended development; self-directed/on the job learning; and modules specifically required for nurses working within our hospitals. All learning activities are recorded and tracked on our Digital Learning Platform (DLP), ensuring a robust preceptorship is provided based on the development needs of each preceptee nurse.
We recognise that you and your role is pivotal in shaping the future of our organisation. That’s why in return for your dedication, you’ll receive a competitive salary plus our sector-leading benefits and rewards package.
