With 104 beds, Hawthorns is one of our larger care homes. It is modern, purpose-built and located in a peaceful residential area of Peterlee. We have bright and airy inside spaces and plenty of beautiful garden areas complete with outdoor seating.
Every member of the Hawthorns team is focused on delivering the best in person-centred care. We provide tailored care plans, menus to suit every taste and dietary need, and a wide range of activities for groups and individuals, including music therapy. We’ve even had a visit from some mini ponies. The compassion and dedication of our teams was recognised in the 2016 Your Care Rating survey when we received an overall performance rating score of 909, out of 1,000.

We provide first-class 24-hour nursing and dementia care. We also provide a neurological rehabilitation service for younger adults and offer respite stays and short breaks.
Our Memory Lane Community provides specialist resources for people living with dementia. This includes colour and cues to help residents navigate through the home as well as thoughtful interior design to help with reminiscence. The community is visited regularly by a consultant psychiatrist. Our neurological rehabilitation unit is supported by a consultant neurologist, a team of physiotherapists and an occupational therapist, in addition to our nursing, activities, support and hospitality teams.
