As a Hairdresser at this brand new Barchester care home, you’ll create a professional and sociable in-house hairdressing salon that helps us to deliver excellent person-centred care for our residents.

Opening in early 2019 in Edinburgh, Queens Manor Care Home has been specifically designed to provide quality residential care to older people and those living with dementia. Located in the north end of Edinburgh on Queensferry Road, Queens Manor will provide a warm, homely and friendly environment for 60 residents. Its dedicated Memory Lane community, which supports residents with dementia, will offer everything from a sensory garden through to activity kitchens. This is your opportunity to help make this first-class home a success from day one.

Visiting our hairdressing salon provides an enjoyable, social experience that enhances our residents’ dignity and quality of life. Our ethos is all about celebrating life, so you’ll help to create an in-house hairdressing salon that will be one of the highlights of our residents’ day.

An extremely rewarding role, part of your time as a Hairdresser will be spent getting to know our residents so you can maximise their wellbeing and social engagement. This role would suit a part-time or self-employed hairdresser who can manage the needs of our residents around their usual working patterns.

At the time of opening the home to residents, there will be no set shifts so a flexible approach to working hours will be required.

You’ll need to be friendly, approachable and enjoy conversation to join us as a Hairdresser at Barchester. Playing an essential role in maintaining our residents’ sense of independence, fulfilment and choice, you hold a relevant hairdressing qualification and have experience of working as a hairdresser. Ideally you’ll also have experience of providing hairdressing services for older people.
You will advise residents about their hair, styling and scalp treatments and confidently work to a professional standard. Your organisational skills and attention to detail ensure the salon, your work areas and equipment are all kept clean, tidy and well presented.

As well as a competitive salary, Barchester offers one of the best rewards packages in the care sector. Your generous benefits would include:

• Free learning and development
• Automatic enrolment into our profit share scheme
• A range of holiday, retail and leisure discounts
• Unlimited access to our Refer a Friend bonus scheme

If you’d like to use your hairdressing and people skills in an organisation that provides the quality care you’d expect for your loved ones, this is a rewarding place to be.
