Staff and residents at Strachan House care home in Edinburgh have been helping and supporting care assistant Catherine McCulley as she bravely shaved off her gorgeous long hair to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Strachan House asked friends and neighbours to help Catherine raise funds for the charity, her initial target was £200. She raised this in her first day of her sponsorship. This made Catherine more determined to raise even more money for such a great charity which is very close to her heart, with £1,160 being the final hair-raising amount raised.
Macmillan provides financial aid, specialist healthcare services, and all different kinds of support to those living with cancer. The purpose of brave the shave is to help raise money that will help Macmillan make sure no one has to face cancer alone.
Eileen Crawford General Manager at Strachan House Care Home, said: “Our team at the home have all been supporting Catherine with donations to help smash her target of £200. Macmillan Cancer Support is a fantastic charity which we try to support in any way we can. We are very glad to be able to do our bit to raise further awareness and money for the charity.”
